Physiotherapy – What to Expect

I offer a variety of treatments in order to aid your recovery and help you to self-manage your condition.

The initial assessment consists of detailed questioning, observation, tests and palpation. Following this I will discuss the possible diagnosis. Although I usually have a very good idea of the reason behind your pain, it is not always possible to give it a ‘name’ or a ‘label’. This is because a condition can sometimes be more complex than just a muscle tear or a joint sprain for example. I can also show you on a 3D application, where your symptoms may be originating from.

Following the assessment I will then devise a treatment plan. This may include:

  • Education about your condition
  • Advice to aid pain relief, recovery and prevent further injury
  • A tailor-made exercise program specific to your injury and lifestyle
  • Soft tissue massage / mobilisations
  • Joint mobilisations
  • Nerve mobilisations
  • Muscle energy techniques
  • Acupuncture

You can discuss your treatment at any time, and no treatment will be carried out without your consent.

Your symptoms will be monitored at each session and your treatment adapted accordingly.
