About Karen
KAREN BLACK BSc Physio, MCSP
I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1989 from Manchester Royal Infirmary School of Physiotherapy.
I have worked for both the NHS and private sectors for many years in the North West and for the last 20 years in Yorkshire. I have been based on the wards and outpatient departments in NHS and private hospitals and also worked in many GP practices and health centres. I spent a year working in an acute hospital in Calais, Maine, USA, mainly in outpatients, but including some ward work.
In 1997 I became a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and regularly use acupuncture to compliment my physiotherapy treatments.
From 2003 to 2017 I worked for Physio Med in Leeds and in 2015 I started my own practice in Ossett, Wakefield.
Since 2008 I have been involved in carrying out telephone consultations for patients referred through their occupational health units at work and referred through their GPs.
My work currently includes working 4 days a week at my own practice, and the remainder of my week, carrying out telephone consultations from home.
